San Tan Valley Businesses Urged to Renew Transaction Privilege Tax License Before Deadline

dont-forget

With the new year fast approaching, the Arizona Department of Revenue (ADOR) is reminding all local businesses about the critical deadline for renewing their Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT) license. To maintain compliance and continue operating in Arizona, businesses must renew their TPT licenses before January 1, 2024. A failure to renew by this date will result in penalties, especially for those renewing after January 31.

ADOR is strongly encouraging taxpayers to use the online platform, AZTaxes.gov, for a smoother and quicker renewal process. Notably, state law mandates that taxpayers with multiple business locations must renew their TPT licenses electronically.

To assist businesses through this process, ADOR has provided several tips aimed at minimizing errors and enhancing understanding of the renewal procedure.

An important notice has been issued for remote sellers and marketplace facilitators without a physical presence in Arizona. They are required to renew their TPT licenses if their gross sales to Arizona customers exceed $100,000 in the current calendar year. However, if this sales threshold is not met, these businesses may consider cancelling their TPT license for the year 2024.

Once the renewal fees are paid in full, ADOR will mail the TPT License Certificate to the business's registered mailing address. It is crucial for businesses to ensure their mailing addresses are up to date before proceeding with the renewal.

Businesses that are no longer operational must cancel their TPT license to avoid penalties and future renewal obligations. This action is necessary to maintain a good standing in their account histories. It should be noted that licenses not renewed will continue to accrue renewal fees and penalties, instead of being automatically cancelled.

For more information and assistance on the renewal process, businesses are encouraged to visit AZTaxes.gov or contact the Arizona Department of Revenue directly.
